Can you tell me what you get from this script:

nulldata 10
matrix long_mat_name = I(3)
if 0
    long_mat_name
else
    print "no long_mat_name"
end if
long_mat_name

Here it works OK. That is, the output is

Generated matrix long_mat_name
no long_mat_name
? long_mat_name
long_mat_name

       1.0000 0.0000 0.0000
       0.0000 1.0000 0.0000
       0.0000 0.0000 1.0000

If it doesn't work for you, let me know; and if it does work, can
you see what the relevant difference is between this case and the
one you're describing?

I have now fixed de.po in CVS.

OK, thanks for the tip, I'll try some experiments.

I tested that today and it worked OK for me on XP.

Allin.
