Aha, mystery solved!  The script is not in fact the same as I 
posted.  I'm afraid you're using some evil editor that has 
inserted non-breaking spaces. Your indented lines begin:

0xC2 0xA0

Delete that stuff and the script will run OK.

(I will try to find a way of purging this sort of thing from 
script files.)
