Do you want me to try building from cvs without that patch? Don't know 
what you did, but if it's just a shot in the dark it may be interesting 
to see what happens without it; I mean the 1.6.5 tarball is already a 
bit old, I imagine a lot has changed since then.

Anyway, maybe the compiler version in 10.5 is pickier than the one from 
10.4?
