It's this translation:

msgid "Gaussian sampling distribution"
msgstr "Gauß'sche Stichprobenverteilung"

The single quote in "Gauß'sche" is breaking the gnuplot file, 
since it is placed in the context:

   title 'Gauß'sche Stichprobenverteilung'
