It looks as if the crash is pango-related.  I don't know why that 
should happen.  Might be worth trying "sudo fc-cache" before 
starting gretl.

Unfortunately Apple seems to have very little regard to backward 
compatibility.  Maybe we need to find somebody who can build gretl 
on Leopard -- or a donor who'll give me a Leopard laptop!
