Or "swipe" the mouse across a set of contiguous variables.

I've made this change for gretl 1.6.2:

* menu items such as the correlation matrix are not shown as 
disabled if only one variable is selected.

* if only one variable is selected, then clicking on such a menu 
item brings up a selection dialog; but if more than one variable 
is pre-selected, the pre-selection is used and the dialog is 
bypassed.
