[Gretl-users] Unable to use X-12-ARIMA from Gretl

Hello

I think I understood part of the problem. As Allin said right, it was:

the menu item "/Variable/X-12-ARIMA analysis" is present but greyed out?

I wrote the full path in the /Tools/Preferences/General/Programm but
this didn't help.

So I launched gretl from the command prompt: ~$gretl and had the
following error message

/home/mat/gretl/x12arima: Aucun fichier ou répertoire de ce type (No such file or directory)

But the problem is, that I had specified an other directory for gretl,
which is /home/mat/Repertoires/gretl and this is well specified in the
/Tools/Preferences/General/General
So maybe the programm should be corrected to search for the arima file
in the user specified file?

So I moved my gretl file in the /home/mat/gretl and so launching ~$gretl
was now partially good:
-It created a X12Arima file in the /home/mat/gretl
-I could use X 12 arima from the Gretl command line
-But it still stayed grey in the menu!
-And (but I think the problem is coming from me) I was not able to see
the seasonally adjusted series. Should they appear with the others
variables? Should I be able to open them from the
/home/mat/gretl/X12arima or should I import them?

Thanks a lot!!!

Matthieu

Is the menu item "/Variable/X-12-ARIMA analysis" present but
greyed out?

If so, this is puzzling. The check for enabling that item is that
the specified x12a program exists and is executable. You might
try giving the full path to the executable under
/Tools/Preferences/General/Programs.
