Not being the expert you need I would guess that the last two messages 
are the result of the earlier errors, so it's only one problem you're 
facing. As you probably guessed yourself, it seems like gretl thinks the 
LANG environment variable is undefined; whether that's true for your 
system or whether some other subtle problem causes this, who knows... 
maybe Allin or Jack, or you can find out yourself...
